4 October 2017 – With the South African Women’s U20 National Team progressing through to the next round of 2018 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, the U17 girls national team on Wednesday, 4 October assembled for a selection camp to conclude the final squad that will start preparations for the upcoming U17 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.
The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will be taking place in Uruguay next year between 13 November and 1 December and will feature a total of 16 teams.
Bantwana held their first selection camp two months ago with players from Gauteng, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape where a number of talented players were identified.
The final phase of the selection starting today will see aspiring players from the five remaining provinces being given a chance to showcase their talent for the technical team.
A total of 50 players are expected by coach Simphiwe “Shorty” Dludlu who has been assigned to handpick the best U17 Girls talent in the country.
The selection camp is will run until Saturday, 7 October where Dludlu will confirm her final squad of 24 that will start their preparations for their first FIFA U17 World Cup qualifier against either Zambia or Botswana.
