20 November 2023 – The first phase of the CAF A Coaching Course concluded on Monday, 20 November 2023 at the SAFA Headquarters. Participants completed their first 70 hours of the 200 prescribed by CAF to attain an A License Diploma in learning, which ran from 13-20 November 2023.

The first phase saw the following topics being deliberated during the 8-day engagement:

  • Playing Philosophy of South Africa
  • FIFA Talent Development Scheme
  • Management and Leadership
  • Laws of the game
  • Player scouting and Analysis (internal and external)

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro Jabulani Mendu said the past days experience has been priceless in his football journey. Mendu told www.safa.net that what he had learnt were would leave him in good stead going forward.

“This has been a very wonderful experience. It’s great to see such a variety of coaches on this course,” he said. “As a former player, I really wish that our coaches and support staff implement some of the areas around leadership and management. I have learned so many interesting things from that particular topic which I will hold dear to me in my practical. I also really enjoyed the laws of the game. I am now up to date with the laws as they change from time to time,” concluded Mendu.

Phase two of the CAF A License coaching course will take place in January 2024, where participants will return to Johannesburg to complete another block of learning en route to qualifying for their diploma.
