23 October 2023 – Banyana Banyana have arrived in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ahead of the away 2024 CAF Women’s Olympic qualifier against the central African side at the Stade des Martyrs on Wednesday.

The South African senior women’s team assembled for camp on Sunday 22 October and then travelled to central Africa on the same day, with coach Desiree Ellis indicating on the eve of departure that the plan is to secure a positive result in the first leg away from home and then complete the job in the return leg at Orlando Stadium on Monday 30 October 2023.

Ellis currently has 19 players in camp in DR Congo and it is due to an assortment of reasons that the Sasol-sponsored side is missing some personnel.

Nomvula Kgoale and Tiisetso Makhubela are both out injured while Bongeka Gamede had to be withdrawn due to her final exams in South Africa. Linda Motlhalo and Faith Nokuthula are yet to join up with the team.

Jermaine Seoposenwe and Samkelisiwe Selana are expected to join the team for the return leg in South Africa.
