17 October 2023 – Day 1 of the 2023 Sasol League National Championships taking place at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein displayed some quality football and there were goals galore as the Sasol League continues to grow and showcase new talent.

Crouses, an ambitious side from Gauteng, were the biggest winners of the day as they dominated play walloping Mpumalanga-based side Sasol Juventus 5-1 in the last match of the day. With this big win, the Gauteng based side made their aspirations for this tournament clear.

The first match of the day saw the University of Cape Town go down 3-1 to Ramatlaohle Ladies of Limpopo.
The experience of the players in the Limpopo based team showed throughout the match and gave Ramatlaohle Ladies the deserved 3 points of the tournament.

University of Fort Hare from the Eastern Cape outclassed Royal Wizards of the Northern Cape 4-2 in their opening match.

Fort Hare dominated the entire match but will be concerned by their defence that allowed two goals they could have avoided.

Day 2 will conclude the first round of group stages with matches commencing at 9am.

University of Fort Hare will take on Lindelani Ladies from Durban in the opening match of Day 2 at 9am.

The midday fixture will see Crouses Ladies up against Royal Queens from the North West. The last match of the day will feature Ramatlaohle Ladies against Ixias FC of the host province.
