8 October 2023 – The South African U20 Women’s National Team, Basetsana played to a goalless draw against their Burundi counterparts on Sunday afternoon at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Basetsana dominated throughout the match, creating lots of chances but their forwards failed to convert any of those opportunities.

Nthabiseng Majiya and Adrille Mibe rang rings around the visitors defense but somehow failed to put the ball into the net.

“We should have won this encounter easily,” said Basetsana head coach Maud Khumalo.

” We played great football and had many scoring opportunities but somehow failed to connect with any of many chances we created

“We have a few days before the second leg on Wednesday (11 October 2023) and we must correct these shortcomings,” concluded Khumalo

South Africa will play Burundi again this coming Wednesday in their home match of the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

This match will also be played at Lucus Moripe Stadium at 3pm
