13 July 2023 – South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr Danny Jordaan, Vice-President Bennett Bailey and CEO Lydia Monyepao are attending the 45th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup CAF Qualifiers will be held at the same venue on Thursday (13 July 2023) and Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos will know the identity of the teams that his charges will face during the journey to the tournament to be jointly hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.
CAF also used the opportunity to inspect the facilities in Cote d’Ivoire ahead of the West African country’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations in January next year. Bafana Bafana qualified for AFCON after beating Liberia 2-1 in Monrovia in March.
