5 July 2023 – The Bafana Bafana COSAFA squad drew 1-1 with Namibia in their opening match of the regional tournament at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Wednesday (5 July 2023) night.
Elmo Kambindu put the visitors in the lead just before halftime but coach Morena Ramoreboli’s charges clawed their way back to level matters early in the second half through a classy finish from Rowan Human.
Neither side could find the all-important goal that would have won this Group A match and it finished at 1-1. Botswana lead the group after beating Eswatini 1-0 in the first match of the day.
Group A has hosts South Africa, Namibia, Eswatini and Botswana.
Group B has defending champions Zambia, Malawi, Seychelles and Comoros while Group C contains Mozambique, Angola, Mauritius and Lesotho.
