SAFA’s Chair of Referees, Ms Natasha Tsichlas has lauded world-acclaimed referee Victor Gomes and Assistant Referee, Zakhele Siwela for their appointment by CAF to handle Sunday’s AFCON final between Senegal and Egypt.
The potentially explosive final will be played at Yaounde’s Olembe Stadium this coming Sunday.
“This is great news and shows the amount of great work being discharged by our Referees Department, well managed by head, Abdul Ebrahim.
“I would also like to give thanks to SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan for creating an abling environment which has seen SAFA produce a number of world class officials in the recent past,” said an elated Ms Tsichlas.
She said the appointment of Gomes and Siwela will definitely spur up and coming referees to work harder.
“This will definitely inspire upcoming referees to try and emulate the two.
“Good luck gentlemen, you have made South Africa proud,” concluded Ms Tsichlas.
Lesotho’s Souru Phatsoane will be the 2nd Assistant Referee while Jean-Jacques Ndala will be the 4th official
