8 April 2020 – SKLZ South Africa, a brand committed to sports skills development in South Africa, has announced Janine van Wyk, captain of Banyana Banyana, as their ambassador.
A powerhouse of products used by the world’s leading teams and athletes, SKLZ has been supplying football-specific training equipment to the club, with each item designed to improve agility, strength and speed.
Janine, a powerhouse of talent, leadership and tenacious work in the sports development arena, holds the record as the most capped South African football player of any gender. She has also represented her country at two Olympic Games (London 2012 and Rio 2016) and most recently led Banyana Banyana at their debut FIFA Women’s World Cup in France in 2019.
“I am extremely excited to be an ambassador of a brand that encourages individual growth in every athlete. The exciting part about this product is that it benefits all athletes to train smarter and perform better. I am honoured to have a brand like SKLZ that supports me to become a better player every day,” said Van Wyk.
With a global pandemic pressing a tragic, but temporary pause button on competitive sport, there are many dreams on hold, and in South Africa, where a total lockdown has been implemented for 21 days, training regimes have had to be reinvented.
SKLZ specializes in gear that is easily transportable, and hones specific skills within confined spaces. SKLZ South Africa is proud to remain a committed partner of Janine van Wyk.
Also benefitting from this partnership is JVW Girls’ Football Club, founded by Van Wyk.
She enthuses over the deal.
“I am thrilled to have SKLZ come on board with JVW Girls Football Club, and I believe using the SKLZ equipment will support and improve the players in all aspects of their game – shooting accuracy, passing, ball skills, speed, defence, agility and tactics, and hopefully this will put us one step ahead of the opposition,” added Van Wyk.
SKLZ will be supplying football-specific training equipment, designed to improve agility, strength and speed to the newly-promoted SAFA National Women’s League outfit.
Their products are available in specialist sports stores, or via Takealot and www.shopsklz.co.za.
