24 March 2024 – Free State region of Thabo Mofutsanyana concluded the pilot U15 Girls Inter-LFA League on Sunday, 24 March 2024.

The U15 Girls Inter-LFA League was launched under the Technical Development Scheme programme late last year and was piloted in four SAFA regions around the country.

Thabo Mofutsanyana region was the first to complete the four month league, with a festival for its six Local Football Associations (LFA), at Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem.

The festival saw all six LFA’s play all morning with a final hosted at the end of the day. Nketoana LFA were the ultimate winners of the pilot program.

Speaking to www.safa.net regional President Elizabeth De Koker said that this initiative has brought so much hope to young girls in her region, and urged that more projects like this should take place.

“We are so delighted at what we have experienced over the past four months. Our young girls had regular matches, they managed to stay out of trouble and even got to meet U17 Women’s National Team coach Simphiwe Dludlu today,” said De Koker.

Dludlu also attended the event and was impressed with some girls she saw as she starts rebuilding her team.

“I am very impressed with the football we saw here. I managed to identify at least 10 players that can bring something to our football,” said Dludlu.
