2 December 2023 – Two members of the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) leadership, Norman Arendse and Poobalan Govindasamy, have been appointed to top positions in international bodies.

SAFA is pleased that Arendse has been appointed to the Confederation of African Football’s Disciplinary Board, while Govindasamy has been appointed as an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba confirmed Arendse’s appointment and said: “The Executive Committee under the leadership of the CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe has unanimously passed a resolution confirming your appointment for a period of 4 years.”

SAFA is happy to see leaders of the Association appointed to major international bodies as this recognition is a confirmation of their skills in their fields.

“We as SAFA are very excited by this recognition because there is a lot of work that is being done by the Association   every day, and far from the spotlight,” the SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan said.
