19 March 2019 – Thembinkosi Lorch has quickly become a household name in the South African domestic league for his pace, technical ability and having an eye at goal.
The talented midfielder-cum-striker is now eager to convert his scintillating domestic form to the national stage and make South Africans proud when Bafana Bafana take on Libya this coming Sunday in the all-important 2019 CAF Total African Cup of Nations qualifier.
The South African Senior National Team (Bafana Bafana) need only a draw to secure a spot in the African showpiece which will take place in Egypt from 21 June 2019 – 19 July 2019. And the Orlando Pirates kingpin has put his hand up to not only carry the expectations of South Africans on his shoulders but to also make a positive impact in the team.
“We have a tough task ahead of us this coming weekend but the camp has started really well and we are all positive that we can come out of here with the result that will make Mzansi proud as a football nation.”
Lorch believes that with the tactical approach that the team is working on and the quality of players in camp, this squad will take some stopping.
“I have had a good run of late at club level, and have gained a lot of international experience through the CAF Champions League and I now know the best and worst circumstances on the continent.
“It is also very inspiring that the current Bafana Bafana squad has the experience needed to conquer this challenge,”said Lorch.
Bafana Bafana will hold two training sessions on Tuesday 19 March 2019 in Tunis, Tunisia and will continue with preparations before moving to Sfax, on Thursday 21 March 2019 ahead of the weekend’s clash.
South Africa will take on Libya on Sunday in Sfax at 18h00 (19h00 SA time).
