18 September 2018 – The Confederation of African Football has entrusted South African referee Victor Gomes to officiate a tricky CAF Champions League match between local rivals Etoile Sportive du Sahel and EST of Tunisia on Friday, 21 September 2018.
The match will take place at Sousse-Stade Olympique de Sousse in Tunis and kicks off at 17h00.
Gomes will be assisted by equally seasoned campaigners Zakhele Siwela and Johannes Sello Moshidi who will work as the two assistants.
Thando Ndzandzeka will be the fourth official while Moussa Kanoute of Mali is the Match Commissioner.
Zimbabwe’s Felix Tangawarima is the referee assessor while SAFA’s General Manager, Football Business, Russell Paul will be the General Coordinator.
Chair of SAFA’s Referees Committee, Natasha Tsichlas said the appointment of Gomes further illustrated how our match officials were highly regarded on the continent and beyond.
“More and more of our referees are being given important assignments by CAF and that is testament that South Africa is producing some of the best match officials on the continent and in the world,” said Tsichlas.
