19 August 2018 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) is hosting a FIFA sponsored women’s administration workshop which will take place at the SAFA Technical Centre in Fun Valley from 20–23 August 2018.
The aim of the workshop is to empower all women football administrators involved in the running of the Association’s affairs in every region of the country.
SAFA’s Assistant Technical Director and Head of Women’s Football, Fran Hilton-Smith, expressed how happy she was of the Administration Workshop taking place in South Africa, adding that it will play a major role in improving the skill sets of all women who will be in attendance there.
“This is not the first time we are having this workshop,” Hilton-Smith said. “We’ve had it in the last two years (2016 and 2017), and we also saw it fit to have it this year gain. The aim of this workshop is to empower all women who are serving in all SAFA’s structures. A total of 52 Regional Executive Officers will be in attendance there. We are also expecting female coaches, referees and our Provincial Technical Officers to join us there as well.”
“This event will play a key role in seeing our women administrators evolving to far much better administrators than they currently are. And that’s what we want as the association. We want to see consistent growth in how we do things in every region we’re involved in.”
