5 December 2017 – The Burger King-sponsored South African Men’s U20 National Team, arrived in Kitwe, Zambia on Tuesday afternoon to a warm welcome ahead of the kick off of the 2017 edition of the COSAFA U20 Youth Championships.
South Africa received a warm welcome from a friendly group of football lovers,and were already put to task to impress during the youth tournament.
Amajita Head Coach touched on the significance of this regional tournament and gave credit to event organizers, COSAFA and 2017 hosts Zambia for their efforts.
“I am overwhelmed by the warm welcome we have received since arriving glad to be back in Zambia since the 2017 AFCON earlier this year. We are here to build the next generation of Amajita and of course to compete in the region. I believe that we will see some exciting football from all three groups and the top four may have an interesting twist to it this year” said Senong.
South Africa will have a light training session this afternoon before shifting their focus to tournament mode from tomorrow when they turn their attention towards their opening group B match against Maurituis, on Thursday 7 December 2017.
This match will be played at Nkana Stadium, in Kitwe.
Kick off is scheduled for 15h00.
