21 September 2017 – Reigning SAB U21 National Championship Player of the Tournament and Top Goal Scorer Yusuf Bunting has been promoted to the Kaizer Chiefs first team.

After strutting his stuff in the colours of Gauteng in a tournament that took place at the Nike Centre in Soweto in front of scouts such as Bafana Bafana assistant coach Thabo Senong, Bunting now finds himself in line to represent Amakhosi’s first time.

This also means the striker, who scored an incredible 12 goals in five matches, will work with former Bafana Bafana assistant coach and current Chiefs coach Steve Komphela.

“I am happy because this is where I have always wanted to be. The main this is that I am here and now the hard work has to continue. This is a dream come true for me,” the striker who represented Gauteng in the SAB U21 National Championships under coach Tumelo Ndaba said.

Bunting signed a four-year contract, tying him to the club until June 2021.

In moving to a PSL team, the talented forward follows in the footsteps of players such as Mbuyiselo Thethane (Free State Stars), Keletso Makgalwa (Mamelodi Sundowns), Teboho Mokoena (SuperSport United) and Sphandla Dhlamini (University of Pretoria) who have recently played in the SAB U21 National and graduated to the country’s elite league.
