Three South African match officials have been called up to officiate in the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup return leg match between Sudanese club Al Hilal Elobied and Gambia Ports Authority FC.

The match will take place in Sudan on 16 April 2017 at El Abyad Stadium.

The three-man team will be led by referee Victor Hlungwani and will be assisted by veteran assistant referee Zakhele Siwela and Christopher Harrison who will act as the fourth official.

South African referees have been in high demand on the African continent of late with the most recent assignments being the CAF Champions League semi-final that was entrusted to Daniel Bennet and Siwela during an encounter between Egyptian giants Zamalek and Wydad Athetic of Morocco. The match took place in the port city of Alexandria.

Hlungwani is also no stranger to continental football. The 2011/12 PSL Referee of the Season also serves on the FIFA Referees panel and is well respected both on the local and international front.

The trio is expected to jet out of the country on Thursday.
