The Burger King-sponsored South African u20 Men’s Football team (Amajita) played a practice match against the Orlando Pirates Development team on Tuesday morning.

Coach Thabo Senong used this match to experiment with combinations ahead of their weekend’s first leg match against Lesotho in the 3rd round of the 2017 CAF U20 AFCON qualifiers that will be played in Maseru, Lesotho on Sunday, 10 July 2016 at Setsoto Stadium.

Amajita won 3-1 against the Pirates development but the main purpose of the day was to see workable combinations ahead of Thursday’s departure for Lesotho.

“We had to work on loading the players, most of them have not had any football action since our last camp which was at the beginning on June, and therefore the levels of fitness were quiet low when we reported for camp,” said Senong.

Senong said he was aware that Lesotho were not going to be pushovers.

“Lesotho is going to give us a hard time; they play as a unit and this will make it hard for us to break them. Therefore, it is also important for us to be able to play to our strengths come Sunday.

We are working on dynamics of modern football meaning, what to do when you have the possession and when you lose possession.

As a country we are blessed with players who can keep the ball, but at times fail to complement that with goals. But we will work on that,” said Senong.
