The South African FUTSAL team meet Tunisia in the final must-win AFCON group encounter at Ellis Park Arena on Tuesday evening brimming with confidence following a convincing victory over Zambia on Sunday. The final group match kicks-off at 18h00.

The Joao Pinto-coached side lost their opening match to Mozambique but roared back with vigour in the match against Zambia in which they put fellow COSAFA side to sword in an amazing second half of non-stop attacking football.

South Africa got their goals from Renaldo Donnelly, Wiseman Cele and Nwashokwe Mashaba but will mostly owe their convincing win to goalkeeper Trevino Pillay who pulled off several saves that frustrated the Zambians.

Pillay will need to be at his best when Tunisia who are seeking their first win entertain the hosts.

“It is a straight forward shoot out,” said South Africa coach Joao Pinto.

“We beat Tunisia tomorrow and we will almost be assured of a place in the semis. I am happy that my boys are starting to get to grasp of things.

“We suffered from the stage fright in our opening match on Friday but have worked on those aspects. We are getting better by each encounter,” added Pinto popularly known as JP among his contemporaries.

The South African FUTSAL squad mentor said he was also encouraged by the spirit of his squad.

“Our focus is qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in Colombia. If we continue to score goals, nothing will stop us; we are creating chances and if convert half of them we should be home and dry,” added Pinto who appealed to the South African public to come and support the boys.

“I know FUTSAL is a relatively new sport in this country by it will grow.”
