28 March 2023 – South African Football Association President Dr Danny Jordaan will meet new Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa on Thursday (30 March 2023).

Dr Jordaan will appraise the minister on South Africa’s interest to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. South Africa registered its intention to bid for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and submitted letters of support from the Government and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) a few months ago.

Dr Jordaan has travelled to different locations around the globe in the last few months and lobbied for support as South Africa attempts to join the United States of America, Germany and France as the only countries to have hosted both the men’s and the women’s FIFA World Cup.

South Africa is the only nation on the African continent bidding to host the global event. Member associations will have until 21 April 2023 to submit their expressions of interest to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.
