2 January 2023 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) is saddened by the passing of Premier Soccer League (PSL) Marketing and Broadcasting specialist advisor Peter Mancer.

Mancer’s passing was announced by the PSL on Monday night (2 January 2023) and League Chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, said the flamboyant marketing man, affectionately known as Squire, will be greatly missed.

“We express our sincere condolences to the Mancer family. Your loss is indeed our loss. Together with you, we will miss the gentle giant – Mancer the dancer. When I think about Squire, I think of pedigree, he was one of a kind. Dependable, tenacious, abundance of energy. His word was bankable,” said Dr Khoza.

SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan said football has been dealt a huge blow.

“Football has lost one of the most flamboyant characters in the local game,” the SAFA President said.

“Squire was a trendsetter and charismatic. With his vast marketing knowledge, he brought to the local game some amazing innovations, especially the Carling Black Label competition. May his dear soul Rest in Peace.”

The PSL said the Mancer family will announce the funeral arrangements in due course.
