4 December 2022 – The South African Under-17 women’s team is looking forward to the semifinals of the football competition at the Region 5 Games in Lilongwe, Malawi, after handing Namibia a 12-0 drubbing.

Player of the Match Adrielle Mibe was in devastating form as she scored a brace to complete a commanding display by Bantwana on Saturday, 3 December 2022.

Gositang Motshegwe opened the scoring in the second minute of the match and SA never looked back, with Sinazo Ntshota, Ntando Phahla, Olwethu Sosibo (brace), Nobahle Mdelwa (brace), Julia Goncalves, Tatiana Correia and Naledi Nkosi adding the other goals.

Mibe said she was happy to see the team click the way they did against the Namibians and in the process secure qualification to the semifinals.

“I am feeling very good, very proud of the team, very proud of the way we played and the way we reacted throughout the game. I am happy,” Mibe said.

“I am feeling very good after winning Player of the Match. I am happy, I am overjoyed in fact. This is the national team and it is a great record on my CV.” 

Mibe also scored a brace in the 4-1 rout of hosts Malawi during the opening match of the football competition last week.
