25 August 2022 – Celebrated former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, will grace the formal launch of the FIFA Football for Schools programme and the issuance of certificates to educators from SAFA’s 52 Regions.
The imposing Ivorian will arrive in the country on Friday morning and drive straight to the SAFA National Technical Centre, south of Johannesburg where he will help preside over the day’s exciting events.

The day will include a friendly football match involving ex-Bafana Bafana stars and the issuing of certificates to the educators who have been taking part in the induction programme for the past 3 days.

SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan said the initiative is a defining moment for schools football in the country and will shape the entire sport going forward.

Educators from SAFA’s 52 Regions including those from the School of Excellence have been receiving training from FIFA instructors on how to run schools football, one of FIFA President, Gianni Infantino’s initiative to grow the sport starting from the grassroots level.
