1 July 2022- The South African senior women’s national team (Banyana Banyana) visited the South African Embassy in Rabat, Morocco on Friday afternoon where they were welcomed by the Ambassador Ebrahim Edries.

Banyana Banyana will begin their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, 4 July against defending champions and arch rivals the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Ambassador Edries believes Banyana Banyana victory in Morocco can unite South Africa amid economic hardships around the world.

“I am reminded of the Springboks victory back in 1995 before some of you were even born! That victory united our country South Africa,” said Ambassador Edries.

“We believe this team can emulate the same victory here in Morocco and South Africa need good news at the moment,” added Edries.

“On behalf of the Embassy, we are 100 percent behind you and wish you all the best as you begin with this WAFCON journey,” he concluded.
