26 May 2022 – In another first for South African football, SAFA technology partner and MYSAFA developers Inqaku, has started to roll out an ambitious Funeral Insurance programme for all SAFA-affiliated clubs.

In addition to offering a path to receiving free kit, a portion of the monthly premiums will be ploughed back into the clubs’ MYSAFA accounts where they can be used to purchase additional kit, balls and other much-needed equipment.

The programme aims to empower SA football clubs rather than intermediaries and agents who sell policies. Any SAFA-affiliated club can get their club’s unique Inqaku Funeral link by messaging Inqaku on Whatsapp to get started.

With corporate sponsorship on the wane due to economic difficulties, the programme has been welcomed by football stakeholders who see the initiative as one that will change the face of South African football.

Renowned KZN football administrator, Nqobani Bobo Shabalala of Thokoza FC, thanked Inqaku for bringing much-needed relief to struggling football clubs.

‘’We want to thank Inqaku for bringing us such relief and good news, especially in these difficult economic times in which owners and administrators have been finding it hard to make ends meet,’’ said Shabalala.

‘’With Inqaku we are now getting back 10 percent of our monthly premiums in rewards. I urge other clubs around the country to make use of this innovation.’’

His sentiments were echoed by Mcedi Lali, manager of United Brothers FC also from Eastern Cape who said the rewards for football clubs was a first in South Africa and would go a long way in alleviating shortfalls within clubs.

‘’We really appreciate and like the idea of using the rewards from Inqaku policy referrals to purchase club-branded merchandise that we can sell to our supporters to generate much-needed cash,’’ said Lali.

Inqaku is a licensed financial services provider. The Inqaku Funeral policy is underwritten by Old Mutual Alternative Risk Transfer Ltd (OMART), a licensed life insurer. Terms and conditions apply. Please visit inqaku.com
