9 May 2022 – The fans were real winners on week three of the Hollywoodbets Super League after the three derbies played at the weekend lived up to expectation.

There was certainly no shortage of excitement on a blockbuster weekend as all the eight matches played in different venues across the country served large helpings of top-class action. Newcomers City Lads Ladies welcomed neighbors Thunderbirds to their backyard but failed to take advantage of their home ground advantage as they went down 0-2 to the East London side on Saturday afternoon in Gqeberha.

In Limpopo, Ma-Indies Ladies lost 1-2 to First Touch FC in Polokwane. Cape Town hosted the battle of the varsities as The University of the Western Cape welcomed the Tshwane University of Technology in a tough match played on Sunday afternoon. UWC raced in front with but went on to lose 1-3 to in-form the TUT with Busisiwe Ndimeni, who walked away with her second consecutive play of the match award, scoring a brace.

CR Vasco Da Gama opened the proceedings on Sunday morning and managed their first win of the season as they came back from behind to beat Tsunami Queens 2-1 in Bellville, Cape Town.

The other results from Saturday’s action saw Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continuing their good run as they thrashed Durban Ladies 5-0  in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, to maintain top spot on the log. The  Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies walked away with the three points at Siwelele Park  as they beat The University of Johannesburg 3-0.

Richmond United are blowing hot and cold, and this was evident as they lost 0-2 to Coal City Wizards in Witbank. JVW Ladies beat Golden Ladies 3-0 in Mahikeng to secure a second spot on the log after three matches.

There will be mid-week action in the Hollywoodbets Super League  in the coming days with eight matches played on Wednesday, 11 May 2022.

Tshwane University of Technology will entertain Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies at the TUT Stadium,  Pretoria, while the University of Johannesburg will travel to the Groblerpark to take on Tsunami Queens. Thunderbirds Ladies will welcome the University of the Western Cape to the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London, while CR Vasco Da Gama will make their way to De Aar to take on Richmond United.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be looking to further their lead when they entertain City Lad Ladies at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria at 1pm, while Coal City Wizards travel to Giyani Stadium to tackle Ma-Indies Ladies.

The last 3pm match scheduled for Wednesday will see Golden Ladies welcome First Touch FC to the North West University in Mahikeng, while JVW Ladies will be looking for three point against Durban Ladies in the later match of the day in Johannesburg at Wits Stadium.
