22 April 2022 –The new Hollywoodbets Super League season kicks off tomorrow, Saturday 23 April 2022, with debutants CR Vasco Da Gama and City Lads Ladies playing their first official matches of the campaign following their promotion from the Sasol League.
Western Cape side CR Vasco Da Gama travel to Bloemfontein to face the stubborn Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies, while City Lads Ladies host the University of the Western Cape in Gqeberha. The City Lads Ladies vs University of the Western Cape encounter promises to be a tough challenge as the visitors have their sights set on winning the league after coming third last season. They also produced the Goalkeeper of the season in Regirl Ngobeni.
Other fixtures on the opening day of the Hollywoodbets Super League will see Thunderbirds Ladies travel to Mahikeng to take on Golden Ladies who they pulled a double over last season as they won home and away.
Coal City Wizards entertain the University of Johannesburg in Witbank while Richmond Ladies travel to Johannesburg to face JVW Ladies at Wits Stadium in a match that will be livestreamed on the SAFA and Hollywoodbets Super League Facebook pages. These matches will kick off at 3pm.
The South African Football Association in conjunction with the clubs have concluded that the match between Durban Ladies vs Tshwane University of Technology, which was scheduled to take place at Chatsworth Stadium, will be postponed due to the floods that occurred in KwaZulu Natal.
Sunday, 24 April 2022, will see the Hollywoodbets Super League return to the South African television screens with two matches broadcast live on SABC Sport and Channel 124 on Openview.
First Touch FC host Tsunami Queens in the opening match as they look to secure their first three points of the season, while Ma-Indies Ladies will be looking for revenge against Mamelodi Sundows Ladies at 3pm.
