25 March 2022 – The Guldensporen Stadion in Kortrijk, a small Belgium town at the border with France, has an incredibly welcoming serenity about it, and you immediately feel at home as soon as you walk through the gates of this intimate venue.

Bafana Bafana will use the venue, which can accommodate 10 000 fans, when they host Guinea on Friday night (25 March 2022) in the first of two friendly internationals they will be playing in Europe in the coming days.

The travelling South African contingent is based at Mercure Hotel in Lille, Francer, but will travel exactly 29 kilometers to neighboring Belgium to host the West Africans in a match that is part of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos’ preparations for the start of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.

The trip to Belgium is a very short one and is barely noticeable as you move between countries, and is akin to a quick drive from the south of Johannesburg to the north of the Gauteng city.

It is not clear at the moment exactly how many fans will make their way through the gates at the Guldensporen Stadion on Friday, but the locals hope that a decent crowd is on hand to welcome the two African sides.

The South Africans have a following in these parts and the locals speak fondly of goalkeeper Darren Keet and striker Lars Veldwijk, who were familiar faces at Guldensporen Stadion In the last few years.
