1 February 2021 – Following the postponement of the 2021 Edition of the Sasol League National Championships due to the Omicron variant last year, the highly-anticipated tournament will now be played in Umlazi’s King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban from 7-13 February 2022.

The competition was initially scheduled for December last year but was moved to this year after cases of Omicron variant rose sharply across the country. This forced many sporting events to be postponed to later dates.

The 9 Provincial winners of the Sasol League are very eager to kick-off the championships as they will be gunning for a place in the final where the top two teams will get promoted into the Hollywoodbets Super League ahead of the 2022 season.

As a precaution against the spread of coronavirus, the Sasol National championships will be hosted behind closed doors.

‘’As per our laid down regulations, no spectators will be allowed to attend the Sasol League play offs tournament.

This is to guard against the possible spread of Covid-19, which normally spread fast during big events,’’ said SAFA Chief Medical Officer, Dr Thulani Ngwenya.

Football fans however, will be able to watch the semi-finals and final on SABC Sport on 11 and 13 February 2022.
