25 November 2021 – Rising CAF General Coordinator, Ms Potso Mohami is back from Egypt where she was one of the only two coordinators during the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League tournament.

Hollywoodbets Super League side, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies were the first winner of the continental title in which SAFA’s Mohami was one of the two CAF GC at the tournament.

Mohami, a seasoned SAFA administrator said she was elated with the challenge and confidently said she had passed her first huge CAF assignment with flying colours.

‘’I was in charge of one of the two groups, Group B which comprised Mamelodi Sundowns, Vihiga Queens from Kenya, ASFAR of Morocco and River Angels from Nigeria. My main task consisted of making sure that all games were played in a perfect environment without any hiccups and it was really a great eye opener,’’ she said upon her return home.

Mohami said the event organisers in Egypt complimented her for a job well done at the end of the competition and she thinks she is slowly earning her stripes as a capable GC.

‘’My main aim now is to grow as the GC because this was initially a male dominated environment. I want to show the football world that what men can do, women can do better. I want to go all the way and be the GC of the FIFA World Cup one day. I have tasted this sweet journey and I now want to go all the way,’’ she smiled.

Mohami, who has been with SAFA for over a decade, has becoming a force to be reckoned with running various local and regional tournaments but is now eyeing bigger and major international events.

“I am honoured to be where I am in my career but as I said, my aspirations is for one day to work as the GC at the FIFA World Cup.

“I would like to thank SAFA and COSAFA for their support in developing me to be the person that I am today. It is also my objective to inspire and encourage other women to venture into spaces like these,’’ concluded Mohami.
