24 August 2021 – Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has trimmed his squad to face Zimbabwe and Ghana early next month.

Coach Broos named a 31-man squad last week that he has now reduced to 23. This is the squad he will take to Zimbabwe and play Ghana at home. South Africa play Zimbabwe on 3 September at the National Sports Stadium and Ghana at FNB Stadium on 6 September 2021. The two matches kick off at 15h00 and 18h00 respectively.

Broos has kept faith in three goalkeepers of Supersport’s Ronwen Williams, Veli Mothwa (Amazulu) and Bruce Bvuma (Kaizer Chiefs).

In defence, Broos has recalled Portugal based Thibang Phete from Belenenses and the Kaizer Chiefs duo of Thabani Dube and Sibusiso Mabiliso while in the midfield, Sekhukhune FC rising star, Yusuf Maart and TS Galaxy’s Ethan Brooks makes the final cut.
