2 August 2021 – Following four weeks of inactivity in the Hollywoodbets Super League due to the rapid spread of infections relating to the delta variant of the COVID-19 virus, action is set to resume on 7 August 2021. This is following the move by the President of the country to return the country to alert level 3 on Sunday, 25 July 2021.

Stakeholders of the league met on Friday morning and agreed with anticipation that the women’s elite league will return to the nation under very strict regulations.

Earlier in the week, the South African Football Association had announced to the clubs that they can resume training in preparation for their upcoming fixtures which will commence on 7 August 2021 in celebration of Women’s month, were fixtures which had been postponed will now be played before the league continues on 14 August 2021.

“We are excited with the return of the Hollywoodbets Super league next weekend following advise from our CMO (Chief Medical Officer) and consultation with our sponsors and the SABC. I’m certain that teams have been craving for some league action in the past few weeks. In taking this decision we were also mindful that the pandemic is still with us thus we have requested all clubs to observe the health and safety protocols as recommended by our CMO”, said SAFA COO, Ms Lydia Monyepao.
