19 May 2021 – The SAFA National Women Referees Workshop that commenced on Friday, 14 May 2021 with the arrival of participants from around the country and had a number of activities is set to come to an end today, Wednesday (19 May 2021).

Workshop activities officially started on 15 May 2021, with the female match officials running the mandatory fitness test at the University of Johannesburg, Soweto campus.

“This workshop is centred on ensuring that in the end we have fully fit athletes. We wanted to ensure that we give the women tools so that they can excel in their profession hence we focussed mainly on the laws of the game,’’ said SAFA head of referees, Abdul Ebrahim.

NEC member and Chairperson of the National Referees Committee Mrs Natasha Tsichlas stated that she was very happy with the development that is taking place and was proud of the women who participated in this vital workshop.
“We are giving our match officials the very best as we have invited Ms Gladys Lengwe from Zambia who is a CAF Technical Instructor, to be part of the workshop.

‘’Our very own Jerome Damon and FIFA Regional Development Officer (RDO) is also helping with this workshop. I would like to give special thanks to Vusi Mdhluli (Fitness Instructor), Quincy Vorster (Athletics coach), Lerato Pule (Psychologist), Moloko Mehlape (Dietitian) and not forgetting our own National Referees Coordinator for putting everything together and ensuring that everything goes on smoothly,’’ said Ms Tsichlas.

The workshop will conclude on Wednesday, 19 May 2021.
