30 April 2021 – The 2021 SAFA National Women’s League heads into the second week this coming weekend, with seven matches scheduled for Saturday, 1 May 2021.

Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies will be looking for their first three points when they host TUT University at Siwelele Park in Bloemfontein. Celtic drew 1-1 with the University of Johannesburg last Saturday and will try to use this week’s encounter to solidify their position as one of the favourites for the league title.

The University of Johannesburg will also be aiming to collect their first three points of the season when they host Tsunami Queens in what will be an interesting encounter at the UJ Stadium, Soweto Campus.

University of the Western Cape, looking to make a strong statement in this season’s campaign, welcome Thunderbirds Ladies at UWC Stadium in one of the highlights of the week.

The televised match will be between Coal City Wizards vs Richmond United and will take place at Puma Stadium in Witbank while Durban Ladies will have to dig deep for a high-quality performance when they host defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies. The reigning champions have made their intention clear after scoring 4 goals in their opening match against Golden Ladies. This match will be played at Princess Magogo Stadium, in KwaMashu in Durban.

The first derby of the season will see First Touch Academy against Ma-Indies at Seshego Stadium in Polokwane, while Golden Ladies host early log leaders JWV FC at Montshio Stadium in Mafikeng.

“The first week of this Second Edition of the SNWL really impressed me and I can’t wait for the upcoming second week and other weeks to come,” SAFA’s chair of Women’s Football Committee, Emma Hendricks.

‘’Women’s football in the country is growing in leaps and bounds and the excitement of this league was evident with 32 goals scored in the first week of the league,” added Hendricks.
