8 April 2021 – Head coach of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, Desiree Ellis, says she is happy that the team is back in action as this is the beginning of the journey to the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Ellis was speaking after South Africa’s training session at their base camp – the SAFA Technical Centre (Fun Valley).
She says she would have loved to have most, if not all, of the overseas-based players as they have not played for the national team since November 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Banyana Banyana are in camp to face Zambia and Botswana in two international friendly matches this weekend (Saturday, 10 April) and next week (Tuesday, 13 April) at Bidvest Wits Stadium.
Kickoff is at 15h00.
