01 December 2020 – It was a battle of titanic at the University of Pretoria when the five teams from the five Regions of Gauteng met on day one of the SAFA Gauteng Playoffs of 2020 to fight for three spots in the ABC Motsepe League. The event took place on Sunday 29 November 2020. Highlands Park (Ekurhuleni) vs North West University Vaal (Sedibeng), Maholosiane (Westrand) vs Tshwane South College (Tshwane) both kicked off at 09h00 in field A and B.
Siyabulela Mosiea of North West scored the first goal of the 2020 play-offs in the 19th minutes of the game. Thabo Mogkosi increased the tally for the Vaal students just before the half time break to make 2-0, while Modise Mokahanedi made it 3-0 in the opening of the 2nd half.
Highlands Park tried to put themselves back into the game when Welcome Masemola pulled one back in the 66th minutes but it was too little too late as the match ended 3 – 1 in favour of North West University Vaal.
On field B , the other students, Tshwane South College got a late winner, which was a solitary goal of the match in the 77th minutes through Katlego Babile.
