27 November 2020 – The South African Football Coaches Association (SAFCA) would like to congratulate the South African Football Association (SAFA) on the milestones they have reached under the leadership of President, Dr Danny Jordaan.
On behalf of SAFCA, I would like to thank you for your guidance on the return of football alongside the various stakeholders. COVID-19 hampered the 2020 football program globally.
The Under 17 Women’s National Team was 1 fixture away from qualifying for the under 17 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Under 20 Women’s National Team was 3 fixtures away from qualifying from the FIFA under 20 Women’s World Cup. Although both qualification processes were not completed, we would like to congratulation the Under 17 National Women’s Head coach Simphiwe Dludlu and the Under 20 National Women Head coach Jabulile Baloyi on the good job they have done as well as their respective technical teams. We also want to send a message of encouragement to the Under 17 Women’s team to fight for the COSAFA gold medal in future as they took the bronze medal in the recent COSAFA Cup.
We would also like to send special praise to SAFA for the execution and staging the National Women’s League, where Mamelodi Sundowns FC took the title. It was also admirable to see the promotion of 2 Ladies Clubs (JVW and Malndies) from the SASOL Women’s League into next year’s edition of the Women’s National League. Well done to the coaches and clubs for showing a good standard of football. Well done to SASOL and other stakeholders who keep growing the women’s game.
We reserve special praise for Banyana Banyana, the Head Coach Desiree Ellis and her technical team, the players and everyone behind this team. In recent months we saw numerous players gain contracts overseas. Banyana Banyana went to play COSAFA with a local based team and they defended their title for the 4th time in a row. Congratulation to the technical team, players and everyone behind the team. We would also like to say all the best for the AFCON qualifiers in 2021.
We would like to say congratulations to the Under 17 National Men’s Team for their qualification to the African Youth Championship (AYC/AFCON). Well done on this achievement coach Vela Khumalo, the technical team, the players and everyone behind this team. This is a very good achievement for the country and what we want to achieve as footballing Nation. All the best for the final on Sunday vs Zambia.
Further, we would like to wish the Under 20 National Team all the best for their COSAFA cup campaign which is due to start on the 3rd December until the 15th December. Coach Helman Mkhelele, the technical team, the players and everyone behind you. We wish you the best for this tournament.
Furthermore, we would also like to wish the Under 23 team all the best in their preparation for the Olympics in 2021. Coach David Notoane, the technical team and the players may you continue build towards the Olympic Tournament in 2021. We would also like to commend our Bafana Bafana national team coach Molefi Ntseki for the 6 points gained versus Sao Tome which puts the country 2nd in the AFCON qualifiers’ log. May you keep growing from strength to strength and all the best for the qualifiers.
We would also like to praise SAFA for staging the ABC Motsepe playoffs in Gauteng. As well as SAFA carrying out playoff competitions at SAB regional league and at a Local Football Association (LFA). It is commendable how SAFA have restarted football after tough period globally.
In closing, once again, thank you Mr President and your leadership at SAFA for the good job SAFA is doing on and off the field. Wishing you to continue to grow from strength to strength.
