24 November 2020 SAFA CEO, Advocate Tebogo Motlanthe has wished Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane all the best in the CAF Champions League final on Friday.

Al Ahly are odds-on favourites to beat rivals Zamalek in an all-Egyptian final on Friday, 27 November 2020 at Cairo International Stadium.

This will be former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns coach’s second CAF Champions League final having won the title with the Brazilians in 2016, ironically after beating Zamalek over the two legs.

‘’In normal circumstances, one is supposed to be neutral and enjoy the best club football on the continent but the truth is I am rooting for Pitso (Mosimane) and Al Ahly to win this one. He is one of us and definitely am biased on where I want the CAF Champions League title to land – I would want to see Pitso and Al Ahly crowned African champions,’’ said SAFA CEO.

Advocate Motlanthe said he was confident most South Africans would also be supporting Al Ahly, not because they traditionally support the team but because Pitso Mosimane would be sitting on the bench for the newly crowned Egyptian champions.

‘’To Pitso, I would like to say good luck and if you win the title on Friday, you would not only have made yourself and your family proud but the rest of South Africa.

‘’You are a true ambassador of the country and we are proud of you. Go and make us proud because we all love and admire your honesty and professionalism. You are a true champion,’’ concluded Motlanthe.
