30 October 2020 – SAFA’s Chairperson of Women’s Football, Ms Emma Hendricks has lauded the appointment of Thabo Mofutsanyana Region President, Ms Elizabeth de Koker as a new member of the SAFA National Executive Committee (NEC).

Ms Hendricks who herself is also President of ZFM Region — formerly Siyanda in the Northern Cape — said SAFA was really walking the talk when it comes to women’s empowerment.

“I want to take this opportunity to welcome my sister Elizabeth to the NEC and I know she will add massive value to the NEC.

‘’I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the SAFA President (Dr Danny Jordaan) and the entire SAFA NEC for spearheading the advancement of women in football. I do not think there is any sporting organisation in the country which has pushed this agenda more than SAFA,’’ said Hendricks.

There are six women members in total in the SAFA NEC; namely Ria Ledwaba, Natasha Tsichlas, Emma Hendricks, Elizabeth de Koker, Thabile Msomi and Mato Madlala from the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

‘’SAFA is doing a lot with regards to making sure women’s football occupies its rightful place and the more women we have in SAFA’s highest decision-making body, the more our voices will be heard,” concluded Hendricks.
