10 September 2020 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) has sent its condolences to the Bizos family on the passing away of anti-apartheid and distinguished human rights lawyer, George Bizos.
The 92-year old Bizos passed away at his home on Wednesday, 9 September 2020.

“Our deepest condolences to the Bizos family on this sad day. Advocate Bizos not only fought against apartheid but was a highly respected human rights lawyer. We have lost an honest human being and a true champion.
‘’He worked closely with the South African Football Association (SAFA) and when former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa was killed (gunned down) in tragic circumstances, Advocate Bizos campaigned for the establishment of strict anti-gun laws,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.
Dr Jordaan said Advocate Bizos was a selfless individual and this had endeared himself with ordinary South Africans.
‘’We have really lost a giant. May his soul rest in peace,’’ concluded Dr Jordaan.
