2 July 2020 – The Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) has announced that the 2019-20 football season has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, after a lengthy Executive Council meeting held in Accra.

Ghana’s football season, just like most all over the world has been on hold since March, but now a decision has been finally reached to void the campaign with no promotion or demotion.

“The GFA has been engaging Government, CAF and FIFA and on the way forward for the season following which the Executive Council has finally taken a decision to cancel the season after considering all the key factors,” a statement from GFA stated.

At the same time, Asante Kotoko SC and AshGold SC will represent Ghana in next season’s Total CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup respectively.

A further meeting is scheduled on July 7 to make plans for the new season.
