Dear friends,

11 March 2020 – In the past 24 hours we have received several emails from attendees asking if WFS Africa, which takes place in Durban on March 17-18, is still taking place despite the coronavirus outbreak.

World Football Summit wishes to clarify that in order to protect our attendees, partners and employees, we have adopted a policy based on official guidance, and no restrictions on the movement and gathering of people have been advised in the country. Therefore, WFS Africa is still on track. If this should change, we will inform you immediately.

In the meantime, WFS can ensure that all the guidelines and recommendations provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) to help prevent the spread of virus and other infections will be rigorously followed.

Until now, seven patients have tested COVID-19 positive in South Africa. All of these belonged to a group that travelled to Milan in Italy. There were 10 members of that traveling group and one did not return to South Africa but travelled to the UK. The remaining two travelers are under home quarantine and await their test results. All the patients are currently in isolation facilities where they are being treated. No new positive cases have been reported during the past 24 hours.

If you require any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact.

Kind regards
