10 March 2020 – The South African U-17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana) gave Wits University a football lesson on Tuesday evening, when they beat them 7-1 in a practice match as they continue with their preparations for the all important FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
The two COSAFA regions will go head to head on Saturday, 14 March 2020 at Bidvest Stadium, where one of the two teams will progress to the next round of qualifiers.
This match is scheduled for 15h00 and entrance is free.
“Bantwana Head Coach believes that there is a lot of improvement in the players since the 1st leg, played on 28 February 2020, and believes that her team has the ability to turn the result around if they continue giving the effort that they have in camp thus far.
“We displayed better football today against Wits and the players followed all the instructions they were given. They managed to keep ball possession while playing attractive and productive football;”said Dludlu.
“We still have three sessions before the match on Saturday and we will continue building from today’s positive result, however we still have a lot of work to do. Working with young players is starting from scratch everyday and it is important to always emphasize and remind them of work done the previous day.
We believe that all is not lost and we still have a fighting chance to go through to the next round of World Cup qualifiers;” finished Dludlu.
