8 March 2020 – SAFA National Women’s League Champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies hosted the South African National U-17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana) in a practice match on Sunday morning at their premises in Chloorkop.

The reigning champions beat Bantwana 2-1 in a much needed match for the national side, as they prepare for their 2nd leg of FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zambia this coming Saturday, 14 March 2020.

Bantwana currently trail Zambia 2-0 and will be looking to ensure that they win this upcoming match, to ensure that they progress to the next round of qualifiers.

“We a grateful to Sundowns for giving us this match, and allowing us to give all the players a chance to play;”said Head Coach Simphiwe Dludlu.

“I believe we can take many positives from this match and will be using this match as a foundation for the areas we need to work on throughout this week. We stuggled again in the opening 20 mintues, like we did in Zambia but once the players settled into the match they gave us the results we were looking for;”continued Dludlu.

“We opted for a stronger opposition so we can test our weaknesses and we decided to play this match so early in the week to try and shock the players straight into a game situation. We will be using the rest of the week to work on our tactical approach, taking in the pressure and trying to dominate play;” concluded Dludlu.
