27 February 2020 – The South African U-17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana) will be looking to get an away goal against Zambia, which will put them in an advantage for the second leg.

The two nations clash in the first leg of the 2020 FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifier at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia.

Kickoff is at 15h00.

“We have a tough match ahead of us tomorrow, no doubt about it and what pleases me is that we are all aware,” said Head Coach Simphiwe Dludlu in Lusaka.

“Playing Zambia, especially in their backyard, is never an easy task as they are a very strong and physical side, but we believe that we can walk away with the goal advantage we need before facing them in the return leg. An early should calm our players’ nerves, but no matter what we have to score in this tie to stand any chance of progress in this competition,” said the former Banyana Banyana left back.

Bantwana is in a rebuilding phase and will rely on some of the players who have been there before.

“We have brought along a very young squad – there are 10 new faces, but we will be building from our last match against Zambia, which was played in the 2019 COSAFA Cup,” added Dludlu.

“We are anticipating a very good yet fast-paced match. It is also a given that the crowd will be in their favour so our task is to get the players in the right frame of mind and focus on the job at hand. We want to play positive, attractive and intelligent football and we believe we have the players to get the required results for that second leg advantage.”
