23 February 2020 – The South African Women’s U-17 National Team (Bantwana) beat JVW Football Club 4-0 in a practice match on Sunday afternoon, as they continue preparing for their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, 1st leg qualifier match against Zambia.

Head Coach Simphiwe Dludlu was highly impressed with the perseverance shown by the players, along with their versatility.

“Today was a very interesting day. This group of players is just amazing and they really wore their hearts on their sleeves. “We are very impressed with the technical ability they showed, but we still have some work to do especially in areas such as decision making and attentiveness.

We are looking to beef up in certain areas and the players showed us how versatile they can be playing in different positions;”said Dludlu.

We will be releasing 10 players from the camp, who we believe are not yet ready to be at this level. We will still consider them for the team going forward, but for the 1st round of qualifiers, we have identified our main team.

Bantwana will travel to Lusaka, Zambia on Wednesday 26 February 2020. They will hold two training session before playing the 1st leg on Friday, 28 February 2020. This match will be played at Nkoloma Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3pm.
