21 February 2020 – Inqaku FC (PTY) Ltd in a licensed partnership with SAFA have announced the qualifying programme for the second edition of the FIFA eNations Cup and SAFA eFootball National Championships. This unique tournament kicks off on 21 March 2020, with the SA final taking place on Saturday, 28 March.

Champions will be crowned on both PlayStation and Xbox using EA’s FIFA20 game.

The 2020 edition of the FIFA eNations Cup will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 22 to 24 May. Twenty-four nations will compete for the FIFA eNations Cup trophy and $40,000 (about R600.000) in prize money. The SAFA eFootball Champions will form the #eBafanaBanyana team and playoff against other eNational teams in April with a spot in the FIFA eNations Cup at stake.

SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan said all SAFA’s national teams represent South Africa and should show the utmost passion and professionalism.

“We are hoping to create new heroes and heroines when players don the national colours to represent the country in eSports. They must feel the same pride as members of our other national teams. We are excited to be part of this global progression driven by FIFA which is expanding into the digital realm to grow the game and its support among younger, tech-savvy fans.”

Competition Director and Business Development Manager for NAG, Len Nery has been instrumental in delivering high-quality events for South African gamers.

“We are honoured to play a part in connecting the dots between sport and esports with the second iteration of SAFA’s eFootball National Championships and eNations Qualifiers,” said Nery. “This year there is an added incentive to compete as the top four SA players will form the official South African eFootball Team, #eBafanaBanyana. This generation of gamers will earn the right to represent South Africa on the global stage and we wish all competitors the best as they prepare for this amazing journey!”

Registration will open on 24 February 2020.

South Africans citizens 16-and-over can register at www.acgl.co.za/enations.

All entrants need to be able to compete online.
