8 February 2020 – Striker Jermaine Seoposenwe has become the latest Banyana Banyaan player to sign for a European club after joining Real Betis in Spain.

She is the second South African player to play in that league following the exploits of fellow striker Odi Fulutudilu who was on the books of Malaga.

Seoposenwe’s move comes hot on the heels of the moves made by forward Kelso Peskin, who signed with French side Toulouse FC Féminines, while midfielder Linda Motlhalo has just joined Djurgarden in Sweden and 2018 African Woman Player of the Year, Thembi Kgatlana has found a home with Benfica in Portugal.

Seoposenwe, who has been handed the number 2 jersey, joins the Spanish side after she left Lithuanian side Gintra Universitetas.

“I hope my arrival can have a positive impact on the team. I will try to do my best, whatever the coach and my teammates need, I am here to work hard. We just have to keep staying positive. If we continue with that energy and stay positive, keep working hard and determined, we will save the situation and get some wins,” she told the club website.

She is now the third African woman player at the club – the others are Cameroon‘s Micheala Abam and Nigeria‘s Alice Ogebe.
