7 February 2020 – The South African Football Association’s (SAFA) important third tier ABC Motsepe League has produced high quality, entertaining football this season, particularly in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

Currently there are at least five teams vying for the coveted title and vital play-off position in what should prove to be a photo-finish as NFD football beckons.

This coming weekend will see all eight teams in action in a plethora of mouth-watering fixtures with all eight teams in action.

All games will take place on Saturday, 8 February at 15h00, except for the early kick-off between Movers and Milford FC at Wadley Stadium (13h00). This mid-table clash should prove to be a cagey affair between two teams who will primarily be aiming to avoid defeat.

The next match will see the clash of the titans with second placed Dabeka Sporting tackling reigning champions and third placed Summerfield Dynamos at Chatsworth Stadium. On paper, this is one for the purists with both teams having lost just one game thus far and displaying attacking football rarely seen in this league.

Dynamos owner Collin Naidoo is upbeat about the game.

“Social media speculates that Dabeka are favorites but there is only a three points separating the top three teams. We are all trying our very best and at the end of the day there can only be one winner and we want to be that team and will challenge hard. May the best team win,” he said.

Xi Experience then travel to Eastbury Ground to take on Rainham Sporting in yet another enticing fixture. Both clubs find themselves languishing toward the bottom of the pile and will be gunning for all three points come Saturday. The away team can catch their rivals with a victory as it would take them up to 19 points on the log, the current tally of their opponents.

Qwabe United then entertain 15th placed Zululand Warriors FC at Darnell w0ith the home team looking to improve on 12th position. Don’t be surprised if both teams cancel each other out though.

Mzisho Stadium then plays host to two keen rivals in Natal United and Durban FC. Natal currently sit in 14th after 17 matches while Durban find themselves in tenth with 19 points and a goal difference of +1.

Bottom club Edendale Juventus have a tough assignment away to Natal Rich Boys FC at Richard Bay Sport Complex. The away team have been on a poor run of form of late having just notched up two victories this term while Rich Boys sit comfortably in sixth and will be looking to build some momentum heading into the second half of the season.

The popular Mvoti United FC, who currently top proceedings, then play host to GWP Friends at King Edward Park. Friends sit fifth and are in decent shape but will have their work cut out for a team who are determined to go all the way this time and are unbeaten as well.

The weekend’s final game sees Muzi King Masters and Happy Wanderers locking horns at the Ngcendomhlophe Stadium with Wanderers still firmly in the title race. They currently sit fourth with 34 points amassed from 17 matches and a mere 7 points back from Mvoti and will look to edge into third. Masters are eighth and will be planning to spoil any such plans.
