4 December 2019 – The Men’s Regional SAB League has already delivered some scintillating action across the country, particularly in the Western Cape Province. The Cape Town region may be popular but it’s Overberg that has stolen the show over the past couple of months.

Overberg is a region of South Africa, east of Cape Town. It’s known as a gateway to the Garden Route coastal stretch and has always produced exciting young soccer talent.

The coming weekend will see all 16 teams in action with a look towards the festive period. There will be plenty at stake as clubs battle it out for top spots while others attempt to avoid relegation.

Saturday, 7 December will see all eight matches taking place across the region, the first of which has Ithemba Sporting FC entertaining log leaders and hot favorites SA Police FC at Hermanus. Kick-off is at 13h00. The away team have 10 wins from 11 matches and will be looking to keep up their recent consistency.

Young Tigers FC then travel to rivals Real Attackers FC in what should be an interesting clash of styles. The home club currently sit comfortably in mid table while Attackers are in the relegation zone. Kick-off is also at 13h00.

Gansbaai will then play host to the final 13h00 game as Peacemakers FC host a plucky Young Killers FC. Pundits are expecting a tense stalemate but fans will be hoping for goals galore in the battle between two innovative coaches.

The first of five 15h00 kick-offs will see Standards FC tackling the mighty Solyx United FC in their own backyard. Both teams sit just above the bottom three and have been preparing well for this vital clash.

Ocean Stars FC will be hoping to pile on more misery to the relegation-bound Morning Stars FC who currently sit bottom with a mere 4 points from 11 completed matches and a poor goal difference of -18. The home team will be aiming for the much coveted top four spot, especially after putting 8 past Solyx last weekend.

Gansbaai will host yet another intriguing afternoon fixture as Early Birds FC go head-to-head with Zama Zama FC. Both clubs sit 2nd and 3rd respectively and have relatively similar records and statistics this season. It should be one to savor for the football purist.

Fifth placed Salim United FC then welcome fourth-placed I&J Express FC to Hermanus as both clubs target a regular top four spot. United will be looking to their vociferous home support to get them over the line yet again.

The final match of the day will see Home Defender FC traveling all the way to Caledon to take on Professional Tigers FC who sit second from bottom. Both teams will require some much-needed consistency to keep up with their more fancied rivals in the coming months.

Fans of all clubs are urged to come out and support their teams in large numbers this weekend.
